Would you like to:

  • Learn about the early Christianity of Britain and Ireland?

  • Study with people of all ages and backgrounds, in a supportive and flexible environment, with a wide range of module choices?

  • Learn with leading specialists in theology, history, hagiography, literature, archaeology and liturgy?

  • Study at home and in short sessions taught in Lampeter, Caldey Island, Iona and other centres?

Since 1995 the Celtic Christianity programme at Lampeter has provided the environment for many students to explore the rich religious traditions of early historic Britain and Ireland.

Over 100 graduates of the programme can attest to the supportive environment of Lampeter and the effectiveness of the Lampeter model of MA study, in which students work from home with opportunties for a wide range of short residential sessions.

Candidates can choose to specialise entirely in the wide range of courses in early British and Irish Christianity, or include modules from a wide range of choices in Theology, Church History, Religious, Celtic and Medieval Studies. For details of the MA programme, see our MA Celtic Christianity pages.

Established in 1999, Lampeter's Centre for the Study of Religion in Celtic Societies is dedicated to exploring the earliest religious traditions of Britain and Ireland. Interest in research degree study in all areas of Celtic religion, including pre-Christian religion, is welcomed. A programme of research events is conducted by the Centre. For further details see our Conferences page.
