Are you familiar with seeing subtitles on television programmes, but have you considered producing those subtitles? This is a new and exciting opportunity to use modern subtitling equipment. The Subtitling Unit at Lampeter is recognised as one of the main subtitling training centres in the UK.
We offer our Introduction to Subtitling intensive course to the public twice annually. A variety of Welsh programmes are used for the subtitling modules and the students are expected to create Welsh subtitles for Welsh learners and the hard of hearing viewers. They also hone their translation skills by creating English subtitles. Students are trained to resolve linguistic and technical problems in order to produce broadcast standard subtitles as a foundation for a career in subtitling. Students will have the opportunity to use cutting-edge industry-standard digital software as used by professionals.
