Originally from north Pembrokeshire, Christine specialises in applied linguistics, sociolinguistics and dialectology. She has published several articles and books in these fields and is particularly interested in promoting Welsh to adults as a research field, to help ensure national and international importance to teaching Welsh as a second language. In light of her extensive experience in this field, she has prepared a wide range of teaching materials for learners of all ages and abilities.
She is co-author of the highly successful Multi Media Welsh A/B language courses, the flagship internet modules of the Department of Welsh. She is also co-author of the book Teach Yourself Welsh, popular with learners all over the world.

Dr Jane Cartwright is Senior Lecturer at the University of Wales, Lampeter. Jane is also Director of the MA in Celtic Studies and a member of both the Institute of Medieval Studies and the Centre for the Study of Religion in Celtic Societies.
Jane lectures through the medium of Welsh and English and has supervised and/or examined theses on a wide range of topics relating to the literature, religion and history of Wales.
Her research interests include medieval Welsh religious history, the cult of the Virgin Mary, the history of the nunneries in medieval Wales , virginity literature and Welsh saints' cults.
She is one of the leading scholars working in the field of feminine sanctity and Middle Welsh hagiography and her publications include Y Forwyn Fair, Santesau a Lleianod (Cardiff, 1999), Celtic Hagiography and Saints' Cults (Cardiff, 2003) and Feminine Sanctity and Spirituality in Medieval Wales (Cardiff, 2007).
