China Classic Film Festival is currently taking place at 9 venues throughout Wales. It began on October 1st, which was the 60th birthday of the People's Republic of China, and will continue until the end of the month.
The festival is showing award-winning films, old and new, and will also serve as a platform for the Welsh premiere of City of Life and Death, an important new film which recently won the top prize at San Sebastien Film Festival and will receive its UK premiere at the London Film Festival in October. Lu Chuan, the film's director and one of the most prominent and successful Chinese directors to emerge in recent years, will be coming to Wales to attend the festival and deliver a masterclass to students at the University of Wales.
During the festival there will also be free screenings, lectures, workshops for school pupils and question-and-answer sessions with directors and academics.
