GO Wales Work Placements

GO Wales Work Placements are Wales’ flagship work experience scheme. We offer students and graduates the chance to gain paid, project-based work experience. Our placements are proven to make you more employable.
You can take part in our placement scheme if you are a higher education student with EU citizenship, or a graduate. You will be expected to have an address in Wales or to be studying at a Welsh higher education institution.

What is a Work Placement?

Here are the basic facts about our placement scheme:

  • Placements last around 10 weeks and are normally full-time.
  • Placements are paid £240 per week min.
  • You get the chance to develop your skills by working on a real business project for a local employer.
  • You complete a work-based qualification designed to help you develop your business and personal skills.
  • You can add some quality experience to your CV.
  • Many placements lead to further work with the host company but obviously this isn’t guaranteed.

Go Wales Work Tasters

GO Wales Work Tasters are organised according to your needs. Bespoke periods of work experience designed to help you make informed career choices. Tasters are short, flexible and enable students and graduates to gain experience of working in a particular career, industry or business sector.
You can take part in our taster scheme if you are a higher education student with EU citizenship, or a graduate. You will be expected to have an address in Wales or to be studying at a Welsh higher education institution

What is a Work Taster?

Work Tasters are:

  • Normally up to 2 weeks in length.
  • Unpaid. You observe and maybe take part in some selected tasks but you’re not an employee of the organisation while on a Work Taster.
  • The rest is up to you...

GO Wales Graduate Academy

The GO Wales Graduate Academy is a free training programme that aims to provide recent graduates with the skills and support needed to help gain graduate employment. Today’s employers are looking for real evidence of skills, abilities and understanding of the world of work, underpinned by actual experience and accredited learning.

By combining work experience with a qualification awarded by the internationally-recognised Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM), the programme is a learning opportunity that focuses on the real and practical skills required for success.

Programmes are held at various locations in Wales. Full-time, 6-week programmes include a 2-week residential training course. We also offer part-time programmes for those who are currently working and feel under-employed but are not able to attend a full-time programme.

For further information follow the Graduate Academy link or contact Gwen Adams or Jane Burtenshaw Jones at graduateacademy@lamp.ac.uk
