New Lampeter MBA Launched

A new MBA programme has been approved at the University of Wales Lampeter. This is the first time the University has offered a Masters’ in Business Administration (MBA).
The MBA is the premier business qualification and is designed for aspiring senior managers, future CEOs and entrepreneurs. The postgraduate programme is designed to develop managerial competence in a wide variety of business situations and is often considered to be an essential business qualification.
The Lampeter MBA will be offered through two routes. From February 2007, the programme will be taught in London through a partnership with the College of Technology London. Within the programme, there is a focus on international business appropriate to diverse national backgrounds. Course delivery methods encompass simulation, case studies, group work and out-of-class leadership development and scenario management including a brief period of study on the Lampeter campus.
From October 2007, the MBA programme will also be offered on the Lampeter campus.
At both sites, the degree is structured to include essential core modules and offers five possible degree pathways in Leadership, Human Resources Management (HRM), International Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Information Management.
Professor David Kirby of the University of Surrey School of Management and External Examiner for the Department said ''I congratulate the Department on this initiative and trust that the programme will be highly successful, giving the students a sound grounding in both management theory and practice.''
- The Department of Management and Information Technology offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and research degrees in addition to the MBA. The Department’s degree programmes were ranked as second best (after Cardiff University) in Wales and in the top 30 in the UK by the Guardian newspaper earlier this year.
