The Research Institute of Classics organised an international conference on ‘Priests and the State in the Roman World’, which will take place at Lampeter between 28 and 30 August 2008. This conference explored the role of priests and priesthoods in the religious, social, and political life of Rome and her Empire. We expect that the proceedings of the conference will provide the basis for an edited book, which should provide a wide-ranging treatment of the role of priests and priesthoods in the Roman world.
