You
will need to take modules totalling 120 credits (normally 6 x 20 credits)
to pass Part 1. It is important that you take sufficient credits (of your
particular degree scheme) to fulfil the requirements in the regulations. At least 80 credits must be taken from within your degree scheme. You may take up to 40 credits from any other Lampeter MA schemes. You
may also take in an enhanced form up to 20 credits of relevant modules from
our level 3 undergraduate programme, although this will normally require
you to attend classes in Lampeter regularly during term time.
A summary is provided below:
Part 1 of MA / MTh and Part 1A of the DMin each require the successful completion of 120 credits.
80 credits must be from within your degree scheme.
20 credits may be taken from another M level degree scheme (or from an appropriate conference module), either taught at Lampeter or externally.
20 credits may be taken, in an enhanced form, from Lampeter’s level 3 undergraduate programme, subject to the approval of your Course Director.
Part 1B of the DMin requires the successful completion of 60 credits taken from the following range: Placement; Management, Leadership and Ministry; Mission in Context; Clinical Pastoral Education; Elective module chosen from the Part 1A menu.
The Master of Ministry (MMin)
is equivalent to Parts 1A and 1B of the DMin, requiring the successful
completion of 120 credits from the Part 1A range of modules and
60 credits from the Part 1B range.
You are strongly advised to consult your Course Director in all matters
relating to module choice.
Modes of Delivery
All the modules listed in this handbook form components of degree
schemes which are run from Lampeter. These modules are delivered in a number
of different ways:
‘Full-time’ means that the module is taught at Lampeter
during university terms, and is therefore only available for full-time residential
candidates, or those part-time candidates who live within easy reach of
Lampeter.
‘At Residentials’ means that the module is taught over
3 to 6 residential weeks, spaced over 1 to 2 years.
‘Intensive’ means that the module is taught over one
residential week.
‘Fully Distance’ means that the module is a distance
learning pack, and is not supported by tuition at residentials.
‘Distance, with some input at residentials’ means that
an introduction to the study pack will be given at one residential. This
will usually occur once over a two-year cycle. In choosing modules, you should
consider the mode of delivery and what is likely to suit best your personal
preferences and circumstances.
